More About This Web Site

The purpose of this web site it to help you learn about the legal problems facing poor people. We have included many easy to read self-help materials about many problems such as family, housing, benefits and consumer law.

There are two ways to look for legal information on this web site... you can use the Search Engine, or you can browse through our Legal Booklets section. There are links to both at the top of the page.

Search Engine - If you are looking for specific information you can search this site.

  • Click on the Search button at the top of the screen
  • Type in the word or words that you are looking for in the Search Box
  • Click on the Begin Search button
  • A list of all the documents on the website that have the word or words you entered will be displayed. We do link to some other web sites, and if they contain information about what you are searching for, they will also be displayed.

If your search does not show documents that are helpful to you click on the Search Tips for more information on how to search for what you want.

Legal Booklets - Our Legal Booklets section has most of the same information as the Search Engine. You can also browse through the Legal Booklets section to find useful information.

  • Click on the Legal Booklets button at the top of the screen
  • It is organized by topic (Family, Benefits, etc.). Click on the topic that you want.
  • You will see a list of additional choices. You can click on these choices to find and open documents that you are interested in.
  • Use your Back button, or click on the words Back to the Top of the Index to browse through other topics.
  • You can also Search in the Legal Booklets section. There is a Search Box at the bottom of the page

Some people will find it easier to use the Search Engine and some people will find it easier to use the Legal Booklets section. We encourage you to try both methods.
